Position: Assistant Facility Engineer

Assist the Facility Engineer in providing maintenance of the venue, equipment and grounds for the convention center. Provide the set-up of utility services for events (setting and striking event related power).

Reports To: Facility Engineer or Director of Events and Operations
Status: Part-time, Hourly

SUMMARY: Assist the Facility Engineer in providing maintenance of the venue, equipment and grounds for the convention center. Provide the set-up of utility services for events (setting and striking event related power).

JOB DUTIES (Including, but not limited to):
• Assist in overall management of services and activities involved in the maintenance and operations of the venue including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, trades and grounds keeping
• Work alongside Utah County Public Works Department within services that they are providing for the Convention Center
• Assist in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of assigned programs and functions
• Assist in establishing and monitoring work performance and safety standards
• Ensure compliance with the facility’s maintenance standards and reporting requirements; assist in managing the facility’s use of the MicroMain program
• Provide the set-up of utility services for events (setting and striking event related power)
• Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with relevant federal, state and local regulations
• Assist in developing and maintaining Capital Improvement Project reports and recommendations for the venue and assist in overseeing execution of Capital Improvement Projects
• Assist in administering maintenance and service contracts (i.e. HVAC, elevators, pest control, landscape maintenance, fire systems, etc.)
• Conduct a variety of industry related operational studies; recommend modifications to programs, policies, and procedures as appropriate; implement approved modifications
• Must be available to help with deliveries and other aspects that are involved with events
• Perform other duties as required


SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of:
• Operational characteristics, services and activities of venue maintenance programs including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and grounds keeping HVAC systems, water-cooled chillers, cooling towers, VAV boxes, AHU’s, fan coil units, boilers, DX systems, etc.
• Repair and maintenance in various other maintenance related functions including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, trades, grounds keeping, and interior aesthetic finishes
• EEOC, FLSA, OSHA and ADA issues
• Fork Lift Operation
• Relevant federal, state, and local regulations
• Customer Service practices
• Microsoft Office applications and to effectively operate the computer based building management and building automation systems

Ability to:
• Manage multiple maintenance and event related projects simultaneously
• Work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities
• Work under high pressure in meeting urgent deadlines
• Provide leadership to maintenance personnel
• Analyze challenges, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of organizational objectives
• Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors and facility users
• Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) work days and extended numbers of days

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Experience in facility maintenance is preferred

Education / Training: High school diploma or equivalent GED. Additional specialized training in the maintenance of HVAC, electrical or related facility systems is preferred.

Licenses or Certificates:
• Possession of an apprentice electrical license is preferred
• Possession of, or ability to obtain a Utah driver’s license
